For My Goddaughter

Hello Everyone

I'm back from holidays (sob!). We've had a lovely (short) holiday in Woolacombe, North Devon. We left home last Sunday, went to Bristol Zoo (very disappointing I thought!), stayed the night in Taunton, and then travelled on down to Woolacombe on Monday, where we stayed in a caravan til Friday. We had gorgeous weather, although a slightly chilly breeze a couple of days, the children managed to play in the sea, hubby managed to get his legs and feet sunburned (again! - when will he learn to use sunscreen before going onto the beach??), I managed to scoff down a gorgeous Devon Cream Tea (mmmmmmmmm yummy!) and we didn't have to wear coats all week (hooraaaaaayyyy!! LOL!).

Unfortunately, we got home to some bad news - my Mum and Dad were meant to be going away today for a week, but Mum is not well again - she saw her GP yesterday for the results of an X-ray she had a couple of weeks ago, and was told that fluid is building up in her lung again (fourth time I think), and she has a partially collapsed lung. She is to have a scan on Thursday. I really hope they can sort her out this time - she has been ill since last August, and has been in hospital three times.

So, enough of my waffle - I'll show you the card I made for my goddaughter, whose birthday was on 22nd May - hope you had a fabulous birthday Cate!

I made a shutter card. The images are all from Pollycrafts, and have been coloured with Promarkers. The papers are Kay and Co, and I just added some gem flowers.

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz Challenge which is Going Round in Circles - there are lots of circles on my papers, and in the images.
A Spoon Fullof Sugar Challenge which is Celebrations - my card was for my goddaughter's birthday
Passion for Promarkers which is Anything Goes

I must stop waffling now - Richard wants the computer!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you again soon.

Love, Andrea xx

I've Just Had a Green Smoothie ...

... and actually I quite enjoyed it. I was reading yesterday about green smoothies, how they help towards your fruit and veg portions in a day, and how energising they are, etc. So I thought I'd give one a go - just 1 cup of water, 2 cups of spinach, and one banana - it really is greeeeeeeeeeen - I thought it would be vile, but it's not - I could taste the spinach, so perhaps would add more fruit next time. But I am definitely going to try more!

Must go now - hope to have a card to show you soon!

New Home Cards

Hello Fellow Crafters! Guess what? - my mojo has been and gone awol again! Just typical, when I have special birthdays around the corner (my mum, dad, goddaughters, niece, nephew, father in law, fathers day!! OMG, when I see it written, no wonder my mojo has gone away - it's stressed (lol!).

My Mum has recently been in hospital again (home again now and hopefully on the road to recovery!). Just before she went into hospital, she gave me a pile of cards I'd made for her/my Dad in the last few years, so that I could recycle the embellishments etc - and when she was in hospital I tried to find the Get Well card I gave her last time she was in - I was going to give it to her again (ha! ha!) but I couldn't find it (teach me to be lazy!!). I did admit it to her though, and she did see the funny side! And I very nearly recycled one of the old cards to give her again for her birthday this week (how bad is that!!!) - I thought about taking the front off a card, and making it into an easel card. But I haven't done that - I made her a card using a free decoupage kit I had with a magazine a little while ago - quite a nice card but not very inspirational, so I haven't photographed it to show you (actually, truth be told, I forgot!, but it wasn't as special as it should be for my Mum!)

Anyway, now to show you two new home cards I did manage to come up with last weekend - one for a new neighbour we have, and one for one of my husband's workmates.

The image I've used for both cards was a free digi image from Digital Delights (I think! - sorry if I've got that wrong though - it's down to my poor filing on my computer! - my cyber filing is not much better than my paper filing (lol!)). I coloured the image with promarkers. The papers are also a digi download - Summer Driggs Easy Breezy. I sprayed the papers with Crafters Companion Gold Spray n Sparkle, and added some stickles and gems to the flowers (which were part of the digi download)

I'm going to enter these cards in the following challenges:

Dare U 2 Digistamp - Anything Goes
Crafty Ann's Challenge - Anything Goes
PaperPlay Challenge - Stamped or Digi Image plus Bling

Don't think I've entered any of those challenges before!

Thanks for looking, and I'd love it if you had time to leave me a comment!

My Mojo Has Been On Holiday

Happy Saturday Crafters!

A bank holiday weekend ... and we have rain! (lol!)

I have not crafted anything for ages - my mojo went on holiday - it came back just in time for me to make a card and present for another schoolfriend of my daughter whose birthday and party was today.

I'm not very good at choosing presents for children who I don't know very well, and I usually buy or make something small and give some money as well. So this week's challenge at Whiff of Joy was perfect - make a money card. I just added a strip of card inside, and made a small envelope to slip the money into.

The image I've used is Queen Charlotte, and I've coloured her with Promarkers, watercolour pencils and Sakura Stardust pens, then cut her out and popped her on with glue gel. The mats for the image have been die-cut using my gorgeous Nellie Snellen dies (I love this shape), and then the lemon card was embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I've done paper weaving with the Kay and Co papers for the background, and then added punched flowers. I decided not to add a sentiment on the front of the card - I thought it could then be hung on her bedroom wall.

I'm entering this card into this week's Sketch Saturday challenge - it's a fluke that my card (roughly) fits the sketch actually but I can definitely see the sketch in there - you might need to look hard (lol!)

The gift I made is a photo hanger - paper weaving again. I have made the frame myself, using my Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro - I had to jiggle this about a bit when embossing, as the frame on the board was a bit too big for what I needed. So, I think this can be entered in this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge, which is make your own (made my own frame). The frame has been added on with foam tape, and Queen Charlotte and the flowers have been added with 3D glue gel, so I'm also entering this in the A Spoon Full of Sugar challenge, which is 3D.

Hope you're still with me after this lengthy post - thanks for looking - and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Love, Andrea xx
